I wasn't even thinking of this political party when I wrote 'repressed' but yeah, what if if I am one of those so-called 'fascists'? Apparently some people are not entitled to their opinion. I guess all those Americans here that I agree with are also crypto-fascists. I'm so sorry for you. You have clearly been brainwashed by the politically correct thinking of socialist Wallonia. If this topic gets locked we know who's to blame. People better think twice about starting any topic or it might sooner or later get locked because some nutcases have to whine about America every time.

i'm not brainwashed and I'm not a nutcase. It's very nasty to call people it. i never have called you a nasty thing,
I thought you were vlaams blok, this isn't an insutling thing but a polictic party, which is repressed becauase it's
racist and very right-wing yes, I'm happy that wallonia's socialist, it doesn't means I'm brainwashed at all adn I'm
not a nutcase. i didn't tell those people are crypto-facsists or nothing.

You know, I really like this forum in general but I don't appreciate the Anti-American bigotry. It seems we can't talk about something that has to do with the English language or American culture without someone (Jar-ptitsa in this case but he's not alone) taking the opportunity to bash Americans in a way that is only slightly related to the topic of the thread. I've seen this a lot and it's two-faced hypocrisy. Your talk about egalitarianism and equality turns into a bad joke as soon as you deny us (or anyone else) the same respect that you demand for everyone. Everyone includes Americans as well. I wish I had read a notice like this when I was signing up to participate in the forum:

Note to Americans: Your participation in these forums is permitted but not welcome. Respect must be shown for all countries and cultures, but not yours. Any criticism you make about another culture or nation will be automatically labeled as bigotry and hatred but criticisms made against your history, traditions, culture and language will be tolerated. Participate at your own risk.

I'm not saying the USA is above reproach. What I'm saying is I don't think that this forum is for political mudslinging. There are plenty of other forums for that. I come here to talk about languages. I only ask that the users from other places in the world show me, my country, my history and my culture the same respect that they want me to show theirs. Anything less is less is hypocrisy.

I would feel wrong if I didn't contribute to the subject at hand. We've been talking mostly about North America but Australia, New Zeland and Latin America were also heavily colonized by immigrants. I know that there are Brazilians who call themselves "Afro-Brazilians." I remember some people in Chile really flouting European ethnicity. How common is this in the other countries outside of North America and Europe?

I'm not "he", I'm a girl, and not anti-amercian but I find it incorrect when a person whose ancestors in 1700 immigrated from Italy and the eprson therefore says 'I'm Italian". It's not two-faced hypocrisy. I don't deny amercians respect but it's not a perfect country. You better read the commentary by americans about the francophones: for example, arrogant, snob, haven't humour, serious, can't tell a joke, etc... This is acceptable for you?

Jbbar, Porthunol and alll people: leave me alone, I've my opinion and it's allowed to have. I didn't call you nasty things or insult you at all, don't call me names I don't like it and get upset. I'm NOT anti-american at all, but I don;t like that all the people have guns, that it's the death-penalty and that the people say they're Italian after the ancestors 2 centuries ago had immigrated. Shut up call me two-faced hypocrit, nutcase, brainwashed, anti-amercian, "he" etc

Look who's talking! Apparently only you socialists have a right to an opinion but not those who disagree with your utopian views, they are just 'fascist nutcases' to you! Who hijacked this thread anyway, huh?

I'm going to report your nonsense. It cannot be that every time a person starts a topic it has to end like this.
