Quick question:
A co-worker of mine is getting ready to take (and presumably pass) her US Citizenship test. Any thoughts on an appropriate gift? I was thinking some sort of English language-learning resource..let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Well, you better make sure it is not too basic. If you go "Now that you are a citizen, I got you 'A Total Moron's Guide to Basic English Grammar' -so that you can finally learn our language" - it could be a little offensive, I imagine.
I think The American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms by Christine Ammer is a good choice. It is probably a useful book no matter how good their English is. And it sounds, well, American. Edited by Russianbear on 27 May 2009 at 12:26am 1 person has voted this message useful | |
