This TV show came to my university's campus, I applied, passed a screening interview, and bam I got on TV. Unfortunately they cut out stuff like my beatbox, and the part where I got the last rose from the campus queen which allows me to go on to the quiz round (my team mate got her question wrong so I didn't get money). And yes, they cut out my quiz round. This 5-minute video is all the footage of me from the episode. You don't get to hear my Korean all that much, so it's not a good measurement of my skill at the moment. This was filmed in the middle of May and was broadcast on June 7.

Oh my God.. I just watched your video, and it's FREAKING hilarious.. XD The song was the BEST..
I think your spoken Korean's quite decent although their is obviously a room for improvement. I'd say you have a better accent than the majority of learners. Just be "careful" about your word choices.. ;) By the way.. what's this obsession with slang I see on your cyworld.. and why do you call yourself 병신?? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

What you heard me say on the show is actually closer to the lower end of my skill, but I'm certainly not going to claim any kind of proficiency. I'm good enough that I was able to complete a 10-minute interview in order to get on the show. Although according to the faculty at my campus I speak better than even some of the students a level higher than me (I'm in level 4 on the TOPIK scale). 꽐라... I learned that word back in September from some friends. Back then the word was almost entirely unknown the country, but by December just about every Korean knew it and some started trying to teach it to me. I learned 만취하다 in December too, but I'm only just now breaking the habit of using 꽐라 to describe a highly drunken state. lol And on my Cyworld most of my 일촌 are members of the campus hip-hop club, and are responsible for teaching me about 75% of the slang and bad words I know. In speech, unless something makes me use a certain interjection, I almost never swear in Korean. And we in the hip-hop club like to call ourselves 병신 because we act like complete wackos compared to the other clubs. lol Also you're welcome to add me. :P 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Mmmm yeah.. try not to use too many slangs. Although I also am guilty of using way too many swear words in English daily, so perhaps I'm not in the position to say that to you.. XD Erm.. as for cyworld, I can't add you even if I wanted to, because I don't have a 미니홈피. Why bother making one if you have facebook? :) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

돌+아이. I want to be on the 돌아이 콘태스트 in 2011 if they have one. lol
Oh I use all sorts of slang in English and I'm known to use lots of swearing too if I'm around certain people, but in Korean it usually doesn't ever come out until something surprises me. You make a 미니홈피 to stay in contact with your Korean friends who don't know English, of course. I've got Cyworld Korean friends and almost none of them know English, then I've got Facebook Korean friends and most of them know English, some fluently. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Well.. I was really made when they had that Korean Dol+I and I couldn't take part because I was here in Sri Lanka. My brother and I share the feeling that if I went on that contest and behaved as my "usual" self I would have had no problem securing my place in the top 12. :) I really want to be on it if they have another Korean Dol+I.
And Contest is spelt 콘테스트 in Korean. That's exactly the reason why I don't have cyworld. I don't have many Korean friends, and the ones that I have a good enough command of English and so they all have facebook accounts. Qklilx, I can imagine it must be an awesome feeling to be able to express yourself in Korean well enough to appear on a TV show. My attempts at learning Korean were unsuccessful and I've given up on the language. However, I'm still fascinated by the country. Anyway, good luck at your further studies of this dificult but intriguing language. Looks like you're on the right track! Any ambition of becoming a translator?
