Hi all,

Apologies if this is referred to elsewhere I searched and it didnt return anything. I was
wondering if anyone has any experience of learning Spanish abroad? I am looking at doing
a month in Spain or Latin America (ideally Cuba) on an intensive Spanish course and was
hoping someone might be able to recommend a good course.

Look forward to replies.

Thanks
Tom

I studied abroad in Queretaro, Mexico, and I loved the city very much. It's a great colonial era city in Central Mexico, and it is quite safe as well. I was in an official university program at El Tecnologico de Monterrey - Queretaro, but I am sure that you could find a private program as well.

The year after that I went to Antigua, Guatemala for 4 1/2 weeks to brush up on my Spanish and this is the place I would most highly recommend. To begin with I think you should come to Latin America as you can easily travel to Spain throughout your life as you are from the UK. Furthermore, it is a cheap place with so many great things to see and do. While I was there I managed to visit the Caribbean near Livingston, I visited Honduras, El Salvador, climbed a volcano and was meters from flowing lava, went on a jungle trek, explored ancient Mayan ruins and spent a weekend on a lake which has formed in the crater of a dead volcano (Lake Atitlan). Add to this that I was able to get 1-1 tutoring 4 hours a day for around $100/week and you simply can't ask for much more. There are a lot of great schools there. Just do a quick google search. I'm sure Cuba would be great also, but being an American I unfortunately do not have any experience with visiting Cuba.

Buena Suerte!
