Hi everyone,

Soo I'm currently a high school aged student in the USA looking to go to college in a couple years. In my applications to different colleges, I was hoping to include some sort of certification for my German knowledge (B2-C1). I've already taken the SAT German test, but I wanted something more official and substantial that recognizes that I really speak the language with near fluency.
So what I was hoping for was some sort of well-recognized and rigorous language certificate that I could get on my own here in the USA.
Can anyone help me with ideas here?

Thanks!

**by the way** for people from the United States, what do you think of the SAT language tests?

If you're already B2-C1 in German, then I'd recommend the TestDaF exam. Unlike the Goethe exams that test at a specific level, the TestDaF is much closer to IELTS and other similar exams where it tests over a range of levels - in this case, B2.1 up to C1.2.

Awesome, thanks. I'll be sure to check that one out. The only problem is it looks like there aren't any test centers near where I live in the United States..hmmm

I know that you can do the TestDaF exam in officially licensed Goethe Institutes throughout the US. Here's a link for further information for anyone interested in taking it in the States, and a list of the centres given on this site:

Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta
Goethe-Institut Boston
Goethe-Institut Chicago
Goethe-Institut Los Angeles
Goethe-Institut New York
Goethe-Institut San Francisco
Goethe-Institut Washington

Does anyone know if the "Goethe-Zertifikat C1" is good quality? I was researching this earlier, and it sounded pretty good. There's a test center right close to where I live, so it'd be pretty convenient.
