Just wanted to point out this article of the Gardian concerning a dying out language in Mexico. This language called Ayapaneco is now spoken by only 2 men, whereas both of them speak Ayapaneco as their native language. One of them even said that when he was young everybody spoke Ayapaneco. On top of that and this is the most ironic part of the story the two men don't get along with each other which means that they they don't speak to each other and so can not use it.
If someone is willing to take up a linguistic challenge and is interested in learning a dying language I think Ayapaneco would be the best choice especially because there are already linguists trying to make a dictionary.

More information on the Guardian website.

Unfortunately, if the language has only two speakers left, it's already dead.

Sad but true. Locals could but contribute to its survival, even without forcing themselves to learn it as first language (I am thinking about how Cornish has been revived).
The crucial question to me is: is there anybody interested to learn this language actively?
