This will probably result in a "duh" from most people, but I just figured out that if I attach an HDMI cable from my laptop to my big-screen LCD TV, I can watch youtube videos and other language videos (streaming TV shows) on the big screen and they look great even on a 40" screen.
Thought I would pass this on to others who may not know this and who like me hate to watch TV on the computer screen. Now if I can just figure out how to get the sound to come out of the TV instead of the computer, I will be a happy person indeed. Maybe there's some setting on your computer you could adjust, or maybe the HDMI port on your computer is only able to output video and no audio. You could try to use an audio cable between the computer and the TV. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Yes, I figured it out. You go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, then Sound, and then double click on the HDMI icon.
