I placed my last order with Amazon.fr using standard shipping on January 27, 2012 and received it sometime before February 14, 2012. I was surprised because mail from France usually takes much longer (sent via DHL to U.S. Post Office). As an aside, you can use the same account for amazon.fr, Amazon.de and Amazon.it. As for me, I have placed hundreds of orders with Amazon's European sites and only once did I have a problem not receiving it, but Amazon.de immediately resent the order.

I've placed a couple / few orders at Amazon.fr and a fair number with Amazon.uk (mostly "English friendly" DVDs of movies that had never been released in North America), as well as couple orders from other European e-tailers. From what I read online, the problem (which was specific to Amazon.fr with standard shipping, and possibly only for a certain size / weight range of packages since everything mentioned on that message board were DVD / BluRay orders) appeared to begin at the same time that the standard routing changed to a different bulk shipping facility between France and the US. Some Italian soap operas were good (like Incantesimo), some were more than bad (Cento Vetrine). The ones made by RAI FICTION are good, the ones by MEDIASET are bad.
