Thank you day1 for all them links. Great stuff. I will save them for when I get a book.
They all sound good, it's hard to choose one to start with but I like the sound of doing a few on the go so you
don't get fed up with the same one all the time.

Contemporary Chinese reader student website that i mentioned:

It has everything the Contemporary Chinese book and workbook has, you can just use this site. you can start learning before you get the book.
I used to have problems getting the pinyin tone marks correct, but i found a font that fixes the problem. If they have not fixed the issue, let me know, i'll try to figure out what my solution was.
[Edit: a 1998 font pinyin.ttf solves the problem with fonts on that website]
