I am looking for books similar to the see it say it series, Berlitz self teachers, and other similar books. Books that instead of teaching heavy grammar teach basic phrases and get you reading the language naturally. Books set up teaching phrases like "this is a lamp, the lamp is on the table" and stuff like that. Are there any books like this for languages outside of the regular Spanish,French,German ect? I know there is a Hebrew Berlitz self teacher from the 50's but that is all i am aware of.

Look for books that are made for immigrants to that country. For example, for Mandarin I
am using Short Term Spoken Chinese, you can equally find books for Greek or Serbian or
what have you. Just look a bit further.
FSI also takes this approach.
