Italian:
So I continued my Italian rampage today and completed Pimsleur Italian I Units 10 (other half) 11, 12, 13, and 14. It makes it easier being a native speaker of Spanish (close pronunciation) and studying French for a while. I must say that after all that exposure to Italian...I am in LOVE!<3 Such a beautiful language.

Total: 2 hr 15 min

German:

German class: We learned a new case (The Dative). I enjoyed today's class very much :] We also got our test back and I got an A-. I wasn't completely satisfied because the mistakes I made were ones I could have simply gotten right if I studied for 5 more minutes
:2 hours 30 min

German lab: 1 hr 30 min

Total: 4 hours

Russian:

Russian class: We learned the prepositional case which is definitely the easiest out of all 6 Russian cases. We got our test back also for this class and I got an A-...what is funny about this though is that I missed 1!! question and I got an A-? I don't know how that works when it was out of 30 but oh well.
:2 hour 30 min

Russian lab: 1 hour

Total: 3 hours 30 min

Oh yeah I ordered Assimil German on Friday and I had it sitting on my table when I got home from school 30 min ago. I am gonna start working on it tonight probably. After all the good things I heard about the program I decided to give it a try :]

French: So 7 months later and I finally completed Pimsleur French II. Before I picked it up again a few days ago I last worked on it last April. After 6 months of doing absolutely nothing French related, I was surprised to find out that I forgot only a little (as I mentioned earlier). I am glad that I picked it up again and I am motivated to keep studying 'till I reach fluency!

Completed Pimsleur French II Unit 28, 29 and 30.

Total: 1 hour 30 min

I got "Le Nouveau Russe Sans Peine" Which is the French version of Assimil Russian since they don't have an English version :[. Looks like I will be 'trying' to learn Russian by using another language that I am studying (French). It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Russian: I came across this really cool Russian website that lets you watch Russian movies/cartoons/series for free. For those who might be interested the website can be found Here.

Here are some of the good and bad I found about this site.

Bad:
-Since it's not really aimed for teaching Russian there are no subtitles for anything (That I've seen so far at least)
-Annoying poker add before every video (okay maybe that is nitpicking)
-There are also some films in other languages so you have to really look at the box art to see if what you might be interested in watching is actually in Russian.

So that is it for the bad which isn't a whole lot (except it would of been nice to have subtitles)

Good:
- Well since there are NO subtitles I actually have to listen really closely and read body language to figure out what is going on. This is good because it helps out a lot with picking up the spoken language and with no subtitles to distract me that helps even more. Whenever I watch a Russian movie and it has subtitles I am oh so tempted to put them on so this site helps out with that temptation :]
- No need to crate any account or anything. Just browse for something and you will be on your way to watching it (after the stupid 25 second poker commercial of course!)
- Lots and lots of Russian movies/series/cartoons.

I started watching this Russian series (soap opera perhaps) called "И все таки я люблю". I watched the first episode and it takes place in the 1970's. Although it was recorded in 2008.

I did manage to pick up a lot of words and phrases but they speak really fast at times. When I would hear something that sounded familiar I would quickly try to think out what it means and something else would be said that I knew while I was still trying to think out the previous word/statement so I would fall behind but this is the good thing about no subtitles. If I keep doing this it will enhance my listening skills.

Total for this first episode: 45 min

Now that reminds me, today is Friday so you know what that means? Time to update my total hours spent on each language!

Let see how I did for the week of 10/4-10/10

French: + 4 hours 10 min
Russian: + 8 hours 30 min
German: + 11 hours 45 min
Italian: + 8 hours 0 min

=

French:---117 Hours 40 min
Russian:--112 Hours 20 min
German:---79 Hours 15 min
Italian:------15 Hours
Ukrainian:---5 Hours (Not studying actively)
Mandarin:---3 Hours (Not studying actively)

This week I accomplished my goal for the week of doing more Italian.
I want to do at least 1 hour a day for each language and I was a bit short on French this week.

My plan from now on is on every Friday I will come up with a goal for each language that I will try to accomplish for next week when I total up all my hours. That way I have some sort of guideline to follow through out the week.

Goals for 10/10-10/17:

French:
- Do at least 7 hours this time
- Begin Pimsleur French III
- Watch a French movie

Russian:
- Watch at least 2 more episodes of "И все-таки я люблю"
- I mentioned a few weeks ago about doing a thorough study of the Genitive case, I haven't worked on that yet. This is my major goal for the week.

German:
- Study for the test (especially memorizing noun articles and practicing the dative case)
- Do at least two Pimsleur German II lessons

Italian:
- Complete Pimsleur Italian I Units 21-30. Which means I should be ready for Italian II next week when I report.

Those are my goals for this week. I'm glad I came up with this idea because before I didn't have a solid plan..I would just pick stuff at random but at least this gives me some what of a guideline to follow.

Good day/evening/night to you all and thanks for reading!

Sofort - (Comes) At once

Nice log! Just a note: Sofort doesn't have any meaning of "come" connected to it; it just so happens that's how it's used in that particular Assimil lesson (I have the course as well). Sofort means immediately, straight away, etc.
