I found a recording of Breishit (Book of Genesis) on libivox.org. I'm downloading it now. I received my copy of "The
First Hebrew Reader" but am still waiting for the recording. After I finish the "First Hebrew Reader," I'm sure I'll be
ready to tackle the Tanakh.
I can't wait to finish "Teach Yourself" because this class is incredibly boring. It is useful, but so dry...
I want to repeat lesson 16 of Pimsleur Russian 1 again and move on to lesson 17 today.

Some bloke requested the Teach Yourself Modern Hebrew course from the library, so I have to speed through the
rest of it today and tomorrow.
I can't say that I've been working as hard as I could be, but I haven't exactly dropped the ball. I know that I have
the capacity to commit to a challenging project such as this one, but I'm not disciplining myself enough. I'm still
looking at language learning as something I do when I have free time.
I'm spending at least an hour a day on Pimsleur and an hour a day on Hebrew flashcards, movies, and podcasts, but
I need to push myself further. I'm also trying to improve my English.
I've officially given myself a swift kick in the bum---I will finish Teach Yourself by tomorrow.

Well I never finished "Teach Yourself Hebrew," but my language learning has been progressing fantastically.
I'm still slogging along with Pimsleur Russian and absorbing vocabulary and grammar from Michel Thomas, as
well as spending a bit of time with podcasts and "Teach Yourself Russian." I'll just need a little bit of patience
with Russian.
My progress in Hebrew has been astounding. I've subscribed to "Hebrew Podcasts" and have gleaned some
interesting vocabulary from the presentations. I'm assimilating new vocabulary very quickly with no real change
in method. I have access to native speakers and I study religious texts and try to translate modern poetry. I'm
discovering that I tend to slack off when I follow a traditional textbook, so at some point it may be wise to hire a
tutor or coach to facilitate additional progress.
I'm beginning to study English for the first time since high school. I would love to master the English language
by improving my active vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. I have a long way to go in my study of the
English language and am really enjoying every minute of it.
I'm having a very fruitful period and I will continue to document my progress weekly. I must say that avoiding
the Internet is probably a major factor in my success at this point.

I have a question: how do you achieve immersion in Hebrew away from Israel? I have wanted to learn Hebrew for some time, but can't find a wealth of autio/visual resources on the Internet that would allow me to immerse myself in the language. Do you know some good TV or radio stations that can be accessed over the Internet?
Also, how do you know a Pimsleur Hebrew III is forthcoming?
Congratulations on your blog. It is one of the most interesting here.
Bye!

Have a look at www.hebrew.ecott.ch Lots of resources on there, including links to radio/TV stations.
Pimsleur III has been announced for this summer.

I am lucky in that I have a Hebrew-speaking flatmate and several Israeli friends. I hear Hebrew spoken daily on
the streets and the synagogue I belong to. I also have Hebrew-speaking family members. I am regularly in
situations where I'm the only native English speaker. Its wonderful and it makes me miserable simultaneously,
as I feel like a tourist. Another thing I do sometimes is watch Israeli films without subtitles.
I know that Pimsleur Hebrew III is coming out because I have an unhealthy obsession with Pimsleur language
programs and I stalk their website and amazon.com for updates.
So I haven't been updating but I missed writing in the log. I've been doing lessons from learnhebrewpod.com
and have been really enjoying them. I must admit sheepishly that I wish I've been studying more.
Language-wise most of my attention has been on Russian. I'm on CD 8 of Michel Thomas "Learn Russian for
Beginners." I HIGHLY recommend this program to anyone wanting to learn Russian. After I finish with the
beginners set, I will continue with Pimsleur or start on the advanced Michel Thomas.
I am desperate for an English-based, affordable copy of Assimil's "Russian without Toil" and the accompanying
audio!
Most of my attention has been put on studying maths for a rigorous test I have in a few months. My Achilles
heel is time management.
