Hello everyone. Today I will begin my studies concerning the Japanese language. I can't say I haven't done anything in the past, but I couldn't for one reason or another continue with the study program. But not anymore.
My main objective for this year is to take the JLPT Level 4. I could go for LEVEL 3, but I want to take it slow and steady. I'm not in a rush.
Here's the plan I am going to follow:
I. Go through Heisig's "Remembering the Kana". I expect to finish it by the 1st of August so that I could go on with the next phase. At the same time, I will listen to Pimsleur and also JPod101 daily.
II. Once the kana have been studied, I will tackle the first volume of "Japanese for Busy People - Kana Version" while still going with Pimsleur and JPod101.
After I have a secure foundation, I will slowly make my way through Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji".
III. At this point I'm going to search for a Skype partner to practice my speaking skills. Pimsleur and JPod are still on.
IV. After I finish "Japanese for Busy People" I will get Genki I. I expect to have finished Pimsleur by this time and only go with JPod101.
V. When enough vocabulary has been built, I will include a Japanese reading session everyday and in the future also a native video (news mainly).
That's it for now. If you have suggestions or tips, I'll be glad to read them.
*EDIT*
I finished testing 17 of the hiragana characters. Everything looks good.
I made flashcards of them which I will take with me so that I can recap when I have a couple of minutes to spare.

Today I added another 15 hiragana characters for a total of 32.
I also finished my fourth lesson at JapanesePod101 on the Newbie level. Will add Pimsleur starting from the 1st of August.

I finished learning the kana today.
The hiragana look good, I just took a quiz (at manythings.org) and got 4976 points with the following statistics:
Quiz Score: 98% (102 / 104)
Correct: 102 Wrong: 2 (one of which was a wrong keypress)
Game Points: 4976 (out of a possible 5200)
Total Time: 352 sec. (approx. 5.9 min.)
The only issue I have with the hiragana is that I have difficulty in writing them on paper, but that will come with practice I guess. I'll add a couple of writing sessions so that I can get some practice.
I don't know if things will go as smoothly with the katakana, but time will tell.
When I feel I have mastered the kana I will begin studying the "Japanese for Busy People" textbook.
