I want to get to the point where I can be confident I'm going to pick up everything without having to try so hard. I hoped I was close enough that studying the last couple of weeks something would just click, but that didn't happen. I've been relying on movies and articles I find interesting to add flashcards to Anki. I've set an arbitrary goal of 10,000 cards hoping that that milestone would be close enough as its hard to measure understanding as every source is different and you can only listen to something for the first time once.

I have created 1000 Anki cards in the last two weeks. Whenever possible, I use Spanish defintions on the answer side. Usually with animals or an idiom where I've inferred the English definition and don't have anything to copy.
Movies
I use subs2srs to get sound clips with a snapshot, this aids recalling the card in context, but may provide clues that aren't helpful for understanding the word later. I'm not too worried, I don't hesitate to add a word a second or third time if I find it in a different sentence and can't understand it.
Articles
Copying and pasting is easy here. Each article has a small picture I add ( the same for each sentence ). This helps add context, but is mostly because I think it's fun. About half have pronunciations of the word in question from an online dictionary. My vocabulary is large enough that an article of a few pages may only have a handful of new words.
English subs only
If a Spanish movie only has English subtitles, I go through it and guess what phrases will be useful. Then, when the card comes up, I listen to the clip and try to transcribe the sentence into Spanish. This can be extremely difficult if the scene is loud, spoken frantically, or contains Chileans.
English and Spanish subs
If a movie has both Spanish and English subtitles ( since this is a Spanish movie the subtitles will match the audio track ), I go through the Spanish subtiltes and pick out works I don't know. I get about 50-100 flashcards in a movie. If you did every single one, you'd get over 1000 cards per movie.

Here's what I've done so far
Los 3 Huestecos - old black & white, I actually liked its wholesomeness
Los Cronocrímenes - Spanish thriller, simple yet fun
En La Cama - Chilean, a little slow and boring as I can't understand most of it
Crónica de una Fuga - powerful Argentinian movie set during the dictatorship
Crimen Perfecto - Spanish comedy, fun
El Aura - Argentinian thriller, really well-made crime movie
Transformers - Since its dubbed, it's ridiculously easy to understand.

Deck created: 16 days ago
Total number of cards: 1201
Total number of facts: 1201
I went through
A todo máquina ( Mexican black and white )
El laberinto de fauno ( Pan's labyrinth, an awesome movie )
4 episodes of Batman the animate series, its dubbed but the language is simple and I understand almost everything.
I did ok, I've been working and I'm going to be more busy. I need to keep movies or radio on in the background more so I can get something productive out of doing other things. The addition of adding cards is a little taxing so I only do it when I'm motivated and it's easy to get sidetracked. I hope to be up to 1500 cards by next weekend. I've got 7 movies to run through and Netflix keeps sending more.
