Your response was right out of Kafka. Yes, I will now devote my entire life to learning Portuguese, and waiting helplessly for HER to reappear in the store. Ten years pass. Finally, she does reappear, accompanied by her 24-year-old daughter. Over the previous ten years, I have spent hundreds, no, thousands of hours studying Portuguese, and I am TOTALLY fluent in it. I was right eh? XD I remember being fairly surprised when i first heard people speaking Portuguese. I had always expected it to sound like messed up Spanish. Needless to say it sounded much more pleasing than I expected it to. Anyway I really hope you take it up as a third language someday, in your case never understanding Portuguese would be the same as going against destiny. Languages tend to find people the same way lovers find each other (come to think of it maybe that was a bad analogy). My point is I never chose Japanese, Japanese chose me lol.
