Just another random thought that came to my head.

Say you were given the opportunity to "swap" fluencies with any two languages you know.

Example: You are native in English but know nothing of Japanese, you could then become
native in Japanese and know nothing of English.

I just thought this was an interesting question, and before you answer, don't add where
you live into the calculation, just consider the languages.

I would like to know Polish fluently, since I love the language but I find the 7 cases to be difficult. Then I could just learn English and other languages.

I would swap Portuguese and Spanish for Arabic and Japanese. Then I would re-learn Spanish and Portuguese.

Interesting question, it would seem to make more sense I guess to swap an easier language to learn for a more difficult or time-consuming one. Personally, I'd like to get my German up to scratch this year and then swap it for Russian language air-miles... :)

I'd swap English EASILY for Russian, German, Spanish.

It would be a coin toss actually, I would be content with any of them being my native language. :)

Id never swap English, sure it would be interesting to speak Russian fluently, but the usefulness of English just makes it so paramount these days.
