I'd swap English for Japanese and Norwegian for French. Re-learning English and Norwegian
shouldn't be a big problem, at least not with English. This is disregarding my
"connections" with the languages though, I wouldn't give up Norwegian for anything - and
I love English.

I wouldn't swap anything. I would very much like to speak Korean and Chinese at a high level, but I think I will achieve it over the next decade anyway without breaking my back...at least Korean anyway. So hopefully no need for swaps.

Swap French with Russian. French is easily relearned due to the huge similarity with
Spanish and English.
Ha ha, swap English, yeah right. I'm lucky enough to speak English natively. There is no
other language in the world I'd trade English for, no matter how much I like it.

Most people seem to want to swap English for something else. We seem to be ignoring that English is the most useful language in the world. The grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence. The only language that it might make sense to trade English for would be Chinese. Still, I'll keep my English and my Arabic.

It would make sense to swap English if you consider that the environment for learning English is better than for any other language e.g. regarding learning materials, classes, number of people to speak to, etc.

I would not swap English and Arabic for other languages. I would lose too many cultural
insights within the languages. That seems to be a factor people are not taking into
consideration. You'd be losing all the idioms, national/cultural expressions, and social
lingo associated with your country and/or culture. I also would not trade in my German
because I spent too much time and money (25 credit hours in college) learning it the
first time.
But I would swap French and Spanish for Mandarin and Russian. Re-learning French and
Spanish would not take nearly as long as learning Mandarin and Russian.

I love English too, and am very grateful to have it as a native language. It's bestowed so many wonderful experiences in my life, and I wouldn't swap it for anything either. Sometimes I forget this, thanks for reminding me. :)

I'd like to swap English for Icelandic... but I know that'd be incredibly foolish. English is, sadly, more useful. Of course, being completely immersed and with people who'd be fine to correct my grammar... I could probably relearn English pretty quickly...

I dislike English. I'm glad it's by native language because I can't imagine having to learn it nad it's so gosh darned useful- but I really don't like it. The only reason I'm grateful to know it is because it's a more or less international language in a way that no other language is- but I think if I could go the rest of my life never needing English, I'd be happy.
