the language of photography.

Lol, obviously. Every skill requires practice, but some languages lend themselves more to one area than another. For instance, if you were a cook, I would say that you would probably want to learn French. If your passion was martial arts, you might attempt Japanese. If you really, really like chess, you might find it beneficial to make that language Russian or Chinese as those languages have many resources over the subject. If you like Ancient Rome, you should probably learn Italian. Some people do seek languages to better their experiences in one or more areas that they find interesting, I don't see why my inquiry about photography would be any different from the situations I mentioned above. Japanese is an interesting choice. It's quite popular there from what I've seen. However, I think that learning Japanese would take way too long for me to even begin to enjoy books about photography or art :P. I have a good command of French as well. I was thinking that Italian would be a good choice as art is quite a popular subject there. I'm not sure if photography is, but I'd bet on it. I recall from my art history class some Italian photographers who revolutionized a few techniques in the early days of photography, but I'm not sure how popular it is today. Basically, I'm trying to find a way to combine my love for foreign languages and my love for art. (I chose photography specifically because it's the only medium I'm good at - my paintings are horrid!) I know the medium is quite popular in India these days, but most books about photography in India would probably be written in English anyway.
