I totally love it! My favorite is when people are already really advanced, and have great accents, etc., because then it's really a challenge to try to correct them. And I would like to help someone get to native fluency, since I so dearly want to believe it's possible, but I have never met anyone who has achieved native fluency in a foreign language.
I think, like schoenewaelder said, it goes back to the fact that it's an opportunity to think about English. I love doing that, and discovering stuff that I never realized before about how the language works (that's why I majored in linguistics). I am in the process of writing an EFL blog and developing a conversational English class that I will be teaching next semester, and it's so much fun, since I'm basically just listening to how natives and foreigners use English and how it differs! 1 person has voted this message useful |
