I was wondering if you someone might be able to advise me on a couple of items that I am looking for. I have been learning french for about three years now and am in a low intermediate level. My resolution for this year is to take my french to another level and I am interested in learning french and committing to memory as many phrases as possible. Does anyone know of any French apps that I can download into my ipod touch. I did get BYKI and have finished all the words and phrases. Is there an intermediate level french app out there?
Second question that I have is that I have also finished all the lessons of Coffee time french up-to the current lesson. During lesson 31-40, Mark changed the format of the lessons by starting with a french dialogue and then explaining the sentences and the words. I found this very useful. I think that he did the same with coffee time Spanish. After lesson 80 he started showtime Spanish. I believe Showtime Spanish is in that dialogue-explanation format. In coffee time french he is yet to reach lesson 80 and he promises that he will start showtime french after that. As I am impatient and cannot wait, does anyone know of a similar course, podcast or audio book where I would be able to listen to a dialogue in French followed by meaning translation and explanation? Although not an app, the Radio-Canada podcasts are good for learning, since they cover topical events for the day. Ultralingua is helpful as it's a great dictionary and also covers conjugation of the verbs. The Champs-Elysées study series is good, as it covers all sorts of idiomatic expressions and covers interesting things - the guide has the translations in it. It's a book so you can't download it to your ipod, but the audio can be transferred to the device. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Quick question on the Champs-Elysées (with study supplement), will it be too advanced for my level if I have only

I've seen various language learning apps for various languages on the iPhone, and they all look like basic vocabulary flashcard programs.
I'd love to be wrong -- the portability and power of these devices would be a great help to the learner, but I think the lack of a proper keyboard has discouraged people from releasing anything more sophisticated. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Generally I don't think it's too advanced. I like this program because it covers a lot of idiomatic expressions, and the kind of things they write about are usually current and interesting. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |||

I don't know if you can get 'mobi-pocket reader' for the iphone? I have it on my Windows
mobile phone. You can get Assimil French and Spanish with Ease in a electronic handy format. 1 person has voted this message useful |
