Is there a way to rip the audio output of your computer? I looked for software that would do this but the closest I could find was fraps (www.fraps.com) but that rips video as well.
I'm aiming to be able to start using the sentence method described on Khatzumoto's AJATT.com website but I'd find it so much better if I could rip audio from films as these are what I learn the most from =)

Yes there is - for a mac anyway. I found the program Audio Hijack from the company Rogue Amoeba software.
You can download a free trial version.

Don't know of a PC program, though..

FOUND IT!!! Couldn't have done it without you though, Microsnout =)
I searched for "audio hijack windows" on google and found this link:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/956 523.html
Someone here said that you could do it with Audacity but I didn't see how, so I googled "record soundcard output audacity" and found this link:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5873 4
It didn't explain it exactly though, to do it you have to click VIEW -> TOOLBARS-> DEVICE TOOLBAR. The last option "device toolbar" has to be ticked and then you can choose whether Audacity records your microphone input or your different soundcard inputs on the new toolbar. Some of the soundcard inputs just give you noise but there weren't too many to choose from. "Stereo Mix" worked for me.

Get audacity and change the source to the sound card. I'm pretty sure that's how you do it, I did it a while ago.
