I could certainly see myself using this device as a language journal, inserting
dictionaries, databases, texts, making vocab lists, writing journal entries, etc.

Meh, Netbooks work better for me, along with good ol' fashioned pen&paper.
Digital things give me too much chance for distraction.

Still, I can imagine using this digital journal to good effect.
It could contain everything necessary for language study, you can write texts and send them to friends to correct (and correct theirs in return), consult word lists, include and annotate texts in the language, describe and annotate pictures, watch videos while taking notes, ... It's easy to carry with you wherever you go, so you can take advantage of any free time to get some studying done or seek more exposure.
I'm a sucker for technology, I must admit, but I'd get this if it does what it purports to be able to do.

It looks like a cool little tablet, very portable. If it can do the things that Arekksu lists, it could be useful. I use an iPhone for my language studies, primarily as a very useful mp3 player/telephone/internet device but it is not as useful for note taking and so on, so...
