"Христос воскресе" and "Воистино воскресе" - this is what I was trying to say to some Russian friends yesterday. However, having not spoken any Russian for quite a while now and only ever having been a beginner at the best of times...I said "Христ воскресе" and "Воити воскресе" instead...what a дурачок...so embarrassing! @.@

That's how people say it in church, typically a preacher saying "The Lord is risen" and the congregation replying with "He is risen indeed" or "Amen!".
On the street or to family members most people say "Happy Easter" and reply to that with "Happy Easter"


I've never heard any of those besides happy easter. We say "The Lord is Risen- Amen."

:D I always want to say "merry easter" for some reason lol
