I have learned that at times, German has been spoken in some parts of the world, that people would find interesting. I am curious though, about the German situation in the Chinese city of Quingdao.
Apparently Germany had taken control of this city for a brief period of time,, and with the onset of World War I, it eventually ended up in Japanese hands, and finally the city went back to Chinese rule in the 1920s:

The famous Tsingtao Brewery was started by Germans, and I've heard that in parts of the city, the architecture is very "Germanish". I am curious though as to the following questions though:
1) If German is still spoken to any extent in Quingdao. Obviously German was spoken by the Germans back when they controlled the city, but perhaps afterwards some Germans stayed behind, married some Chinese, and passed the language down the line.
2) If the above did happen, I wonder how the Chinese language would have influenced the German language, perhaps forming some sort of dialect.
3) I wonder if the presense of German in this area was strong enough at the time to have some sort of impact on the spoken Chinese of the area.
I really have no idea about any of this, so I am curious as to what others may have heard about it.

It doesn't seem like German is spoken there to any noticeable extent.

I agree thought that German has been spoken in some interesting places. I heard that Germany is still spoken in a town in the Peruvian village, although I can't remember the name of the town.
There's also a town in Texas called Frederickburg, I think that speaks a dying dialect called, quite originally, Texas German.
