You can download the Pimsleur courses for free from Netlibrary and use the file for three weeks. You can renew the download (without downloading again) after each three weeks or you can simply record the file for yourself.
I have got a number of Pimsleur courses this way. |

I've been to Netlibrary a few months back to find the multitude of Pimsleur courses you mentioned. But when I vistited that site again a few days ago, I couldn't find the Pimsleur courses again. Seems like they were taken down.
Does anyone know where else to get them legally instead?

www.ultimatelanguagestore.com sells the Pimsleurs for 55 $ if you participate in the buyback program with used Pimsleurs or 62 $ for new Pimsleurs.
You pay full price for the program, send it back and get the refund:
New: pay 182 $ per level, receive 120 $ in refund when participating in their buyback program. You end up paying 62 $ per level.
Used: pay 162 $ per level, receive 107 $ in refund when participating in their buyback program. You end up paying 55 $ per level.
In both cases, you must add shipping costs from the US and back. Your package must be trackable and insured. Check you local prices for international carriers.
You can take a copy of the program, before sending it back. I think 55-62 $ for one level is an acceptable price. And it is legal.

The cheapest I've come across new is at http://www.cateeslanguageworld.com/ for $167.95 per level (i.e. per 30-lesson/16-CD set), which is vastly less than the $345/level MSRP (and like $80/level below Amazon.com, if I recall correctly). I've bought 4 levels from that site so far (2 Spanish, 2 Korean) in 2 separate orders and have no complaints about their service.

Thanks for the info on that offer. It seems like a reasonable price to pay.

What about the accompanying books or is Pimsleur audio only?

Pimsleur is an audio only method. But on the www I've seen some course notes compiled by people who worked through Pimsleur.
