Bon courage! If you want, I'll be more than happy to have chat on Skype to help you improve your spoken English. I'm not native in the language, but I live in Cornwall and use the language every day - for university studies as well. It could perhaps be a good transition before going "all out" and speaking to natives if that helps. ;)

Thanks to everybody. For mrhenrik: I've never heard of Skype. What is it exactly?

I'm not mrhenrik, but...

Skype is a computer application that allows two (or more) people to simultaneously chat using text, voice, and video. You need a webcam and microphone.

Thanks, vikramkr! I see a little clearer. Unfortunately I have no webcam. To practice the spoken language, I watch my favourite dvds in English and shadow the actors while they are speaking. It works rather well.

Hi Lillyflea,
I admire your determination and your effort as seen with the shadowing. With your positive attitude I am sure you will progress. I, too, wish you the best in your studies.

Just a little friendly word of advice: Don't ever accept your fear of flying as something you'll always have to live with! I'm sure your fear is very very real, but will it be as strong in 10 years? In 20 years? And what about 40 years?

If you just refuse to accept the fear as a permanent part of yourself, you might be able to change it to the better. I know many people who have managed to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

I'm pretty sure Japan is worth it. And if you can't wait, just take the train. :D

btw: At www.sharedtalk.com, you can voice chat with English natives who want to study French.
