Hi,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have been studying Hebrew at my university for 2 years already
and I don't feel like I know that much. I can speak very well, but I can barely understand in a coversation.
Without going to Israel, how do you suggest I bring myself to the next level. . . I don't have the money for
Rosetta Stone, is anything cheaper that works well?
Best

If you already have a good base in the grammar and vocabulary, why get a programs that tries to teach just that? You'd be better off watching movies in Hebrew and talking to a fluent language partner.
I can't vouch for these online stores unfortunately, but they do have lists of movies:
http://www.worldlanguage.com/Products/Hebrew/MoviesVideos/Pa ge1.htm
http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/movie/category2/425/a/He brew.htm
Most instant messengers support voice chatting (MSN, skype, googlechat, AIM, etc.). You could probably find someone to practice on either here or on other websites (such as MyHappyPlanet that's main purpose is to match up language learners).

what did you use at your uni to learn hebrew? I too am struggling with it and have been in Israel for 2 months this year too!!
I think that is perhaps the best solution! Go to Israel!!
If you know the vocab and grammar it is just a question of putting things together in your head, so find a person to talk to. Israeli Radio is available online and some tv stations too. Watch that until you brain starts to make sense of the words that you already know. Eventually you will realise you understand many of the words.
I however have to work on my grammar, vocabulary, speaking and listening! (Writing and reading would be nice to get good at too, but too hard at the moment!)

I really like Pimsleur's Hebrew program, as far as speaking practice goes. However, you will definitely need a textbook for grammar and vocabulary expansion. My favories are:
1.) The Shelabim series by Behrman House Publishers. It's a series of three textbooks (there is also a primer and a reader). This is the best program that I have seen and used. By the end of the series, you will have mastered most of the Hebrew grammar and will have accumulated a vocabulary of around 1,200 words.
2.) The FSI Basic Hebrew Course is excellent, but very difficult to stay motivated in.
and,
2.) Ulpan Or sells their textbooks which look outstanding ( I haven't used them yet).
Good luck. It definitely can be difficult to find good resources for Hebrew, but they are out there.

See if you can find an old Living Language Hebrew course. It is excellent for conversation skills.
Often a synagogue will offer courses in spoken Hebrew. I attended such a course when a friend had to pull out at the last minute and he offered his place to me.
See if you can find an Israeli who is willing to offer private tuition.
I believe Israel National Radio has news in simple Hebrew with transcripts. Check it out.
See if there is a club or organization nearby for Israelis or people who are likely to speak Hebrew.
Telephone a synagogue and ask them for advice. They may be able to help.
Do a Google search for Hebrew Conversation.
Those are a few suggestions that come to mind.

Another option is the free FSI course. It will give you plenty of conversation drills.
You can download it for free.
