Modern Portuguese

This book is very good for finding out about the considerable differences between written Brazilian Portuguese and spoken Brazilian Portuguese.

I am a little confused why resources for Spanish speakers to learn Portuguese would be written in English. In other words the person would already have to know both English and Spanish.(I know it is obvious) A native Spanish speaker that does not know English would be out of luck. IMO it is an odd target audience.

How many speakers are there of both languages in place of one like Spanish or the other English?

These learning materials are written for native speakers of English who have previously learned Spanish. The objective is to take advantage of the similarities between Portuguese and Spanish so that attention can be focused on the differences.

Does anyone know, out of the materials previously listed, which are good as pronounciation references?

I'm definitely going to purchase Pois Nao later today.

It's quite frustratiing that there is a lack of Portuguese materials.
