I'm wondering if anyone has used to course, and would they recommend it ? I was thinking of downloading it, but wanted some opinions before considering it.

I would say it wouldn't hurt to download it (except the obvious time involved, especially if you don't have a premium acct on Rapidshare.)
I've downloaded it, and looked through it, but wouldn't really say I've "used" it because I'm not seriously studying Russian yet, I've mostly just learned the alphabet and a few bits here and there. The one thing I will say is that the complete course is huge, and only some parts are available online/in that download. So, there are books with parts of the audio missing, and a module/section with the books missing. So I'd say parts of it are useful, and it should be worth the download, assuming you'll be using it with other materials, because even incomplete as it is, there's still *a lot* of material included. Also I would say it depends on what level you're already at in Russian. It's mainly the beginning parts, if I recall correctly the first three "modules" plus a bunch of extras (like the military terms and situations.) Module III I believe is the one with only the audio but no texts. So if you're at a high level, it may not be as useful because the more advanced parts of this huge course aren't there, however, I still say go for it, there's bound to be some pieces you'll find useful. 1 person has voted this message useful |
