In the beginnig therer was BRAIN CRAMP!!!! And it was good. LOL

I am 2 weeks into my Latin American Spanish journey and I have to say that I have a never ending brain cramp. AND I LOVE IT. LOL. I was a little intimidated at first but I think I fianlly have a good combination. I am using MT Spanish, Pimsleur Spanish, Telemundo(I love Decisiones and I can't understand a word they are saying. LOL),3 online friends from Argentina( they are very helpful and encouraging.) and a close personal friend who is Puerto Rican( she is just a doll). Each one is helping me in different way.

MT is the most fun because it seems like total chaos. I find myself having to listen to parts over and over again because I am constantly laughing at the male student. He speaks as though he will get beaten with a whip if he gets the phrase wrong. He just seems so spooked. The female is ok. But the whole session is hilarious. In the end I found myself only having to go through the first disc once and it all stuck so I like this program. I just need to concentrate harder instead of laughing.

I actually started with Pimsluer and found it to be easy but kind of dry. I am able to retain the information usually after 2 listens which is cool for me. I feel like I am learning functional Spanish but I would be lying if I said I was having the time of my life listening to this program. But it is still awesome because I am learning at am awesome pace. I am able to do 2 lessons per day. Combined with MT I feel that I am making great strides.

LSLC is a little too fast for me right now. I love the speed and the phrases you learn but the frustration factor with this program is very high for me right now. SO I will save it for later. I got all the way to lesson 6 and stopped. I know after Pimsleur and MT I will be up to speed more.

My friends from Argentina have been awesome. I learned from this forum about the differences in the dialects and I experienced it when I tried to speak and type to them. They always say I am either too formal or saying something wrong. But they are always willing to help me with my accent and my overall learning.

Then comes my Puerto Rican angel. She is my friends wife( he doesn't speak a lick of Spanish LOL). She is actually excited about me wanting to learn and is more then willing to help. I know also that I will be exposed to another dialect so this will be fun cause she can teach me all of the bad things to say. She fusses in Spanish at her husband when she is upset so he can't understand.

Telemundo is just funny. I can figure out what certain shows are about but me hearing the spoken language is like me racing a Porsche with a Pento.LOL. I am not fast enough. But I will say that even at the 2 week mark I am catching more word since I watch it all day everyday that football is not on. I have to see the NCAAF and the NFL. I also watch UniVision so I am really trying to immersion thing. I have some favorite shows only because it seems like they are overacting some parts. But not understanding the shows actually make them more interesting then TV in the states.

My other resources will be saved for later but I am ready to dive deep into Spanish head first. I am now wishing that I had started my learning process earlier. I was so intimidated before because I had the idea that multi-lingual people were smarter and were more attentive in school. I took Honors French in Highschool and forgot EVERY lesson almost the next month after graduation. I thought it was just me. Now I see the technique they used was not for me, not wrong, just not for me. I have always admired multi-lingual so now I feel I can become one. I wish I could keep up with the speed of these languages but it's fun so far. If anyone has any suggestions of how to increase my efficiency please share.
