GCSEs being the UK examinations taken at 16 - I took French and Latin last year along with my others at school, but I'd really like to take Spanish this year (I'd have to be prepared to do so by May), enabling me to join the first year of the A-Level course (AS exams) when I'm doing my seond year of my other college subjects.
Basically wondering if anyone knows which courses roughly equate to GCSE level? I thought about using a GCSE specfic textbook, but found the layout ridiculously slow and tedious - would using something like Spanish with Ease, then making sure I knew all the vocab on the specification be OK? Could this realistically be done within 5 months with 60-90 minutes work or so a day, given that I'm a fairly strong language learner, and already taking French and Latin A-Levels?

Hi
I've taught MFL classes at GCSE level in the UK in the past. I used to teach from Pasos 1, and liked it. It gets to the point. You could also look at the Teach Yourself series or even Breakthrough Spanish. There are a lot of options available.
However, I highly recommend you pose this question on the TES MFL forum (tes.co.uk), as you'll get replies from MFL teachers who are current and who can advise you more about exam boards and requirements and so on.
Good luck with it all!
