I have a quick question about the Assimil Japanese course for English speakers. On amazon, there are two. One has about a 500 pg manual and 3 Cds. whereas the other one has like a 300 pg manual and 2 cds. What's the difference? The first one has Volume Two on the Cover and the second one has Volume One on the cover. They both say they are introductory courses. What is the difference between them? Which one should I get?

You need to go through volume 1 first, before you progress to volume 2. So you will need both to complete the course, or you could just buy volume 1 now, and volume 2 when you finish volume 1.

Assimil broke the course into 2 volumes, I think because the inclusion of kanji made the number of pages somewhat higher than their other courses. Same is true for the Mandarin course.

Have a look at the Assimil website for more information. The course is covered in two volumes plus another volume on writing (Kanji) Japanese.
You simply begin with volume one and continue to volume two.
