Has anyone used Linguaphone Malay course? There is one on ebay (books and tapes)--it looks like the slightly older type favored by Dr. Arguelles.
I'm interested in beginning a new language--and this looks pretty cool.
Thanks in advance.

I hope you have already ordered the course because it doesn't appear to be still there.
I have an old Linguaphone Indonesian and I am very pleased with it. I imagine the Linguaphone Malay course would be similar, but I really have no idea.
I saw other old Linguaphone programs on eBay and, if you are not definite in which language to study, they might be good starting points. Many seem to be ridiculously under-priced.
I have bought other Linguaphone courses from eBay (and one from a Salvation Army opportunity shop) and I like them. I bought an old Italian course with 78rpm records and downloaded the audio instead from uztranslations.

Thanks Fanatic. I just looked, it is still there (with 1 bid at $30 US--do you think that's underpriced?)

IansDad, I think you should snap it up! Linguaphone courses are great, the only real downside being the price, but at $30, and for the condition it seems to be in, yes, it's a bargain! You probably haven't done yourself any favours by saying where you saw it, as you might attract some extra competition you might not otherwise have had!
I have a copy of the Malay course, and like it! Some of the vocabulary is dated. For example, you'll learn the Malay for 'record' and 'grammophone' in the first unit, but don't let that put you off - it's a very sound course.
Hi again fanatic. The Linguaphone Indonesian is curiously different from the others in the series. It's more like the newer versions. The Malay course is done on the same lines as the Italian course you have. I acquired the books to that very same Italian program for peanuts around 20 years ago, but alas, no records.
