I searched on audiolibro.es and also amazon for audiobooks in Spanish for books that were originally written in Spanish and that had a translation. There are very few audiobooks there that are not from foreign sources, one candidate is Malinche by Laura Esquivel so I first bought the English translation to see if I like it and if the style is ok for a beginning.

Then there is the series Lola Lago that is a reader in Spanish with accompanying audio CD and was recommended on this forum. Maybe there are other readers with CDs as well (there are more on the website above).

I have re-read several threads on listening-reading, and I have noted several posts by FSI in which he mentions A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. There is an audiobook available on leerescuchando.com, and the English version is available on Gutenberg. There are several translations in Spanish, but I found the one corresponding to the audiobook on dominiopublico.es. I used LaTeX to made this into a pretty PDF file with two columns corresponding paragraph by paragraph, which I reduced and rearranged to an A5 booklet format (30 pages). If anyone is interested I can give you the file since that's public domain, although there are some restrictions to distribution that I haven't worked out yet so I won't put it on a website.

I have listened to it once while reading the English version and looking episodically at the Spanish version.

Also, since the last post I worked every morning for 10 minutes on my rolling R's, but still have some way to go...

I have also listened to an audiobook for El Alquimista, but unfortunately it is abridged so I can't use it for LR.
