I went over Spanish vocabulary last night and thanks to all the reading I've been doing at AlbaLearning.com I've cleared most of my cards. I haven't added any new ones so I'm going to go back to that website where I got the first 1,000 add start adding.
Podcast.de is great! I found ECOS podcasts in Spanish and they're just a tick faster than the "Notes in Spanish". Something different to listen to. EDIT: I just took a quick quiz from TeachMe 1,2,3 Spanish and I'm not clear of mistakes in the beginner level (I missed 7 out of 40). So I spend the last hour correcting some problems that I still have; namely, accents, uses of "estar", "ser", and I can´t believe I missed the one with "saber" vs. "conocer". I went ahead and took the rest of the quiz B1-B5 Beginner and here are the problems that I need to get taken care of before I can move on..
Out of about 77 questions I missed about 8. I gave myself a point or two because I wasn't paying attention on a couple :p 1. I really need go over the uses of "estar" as opposed to "ser". I've never really completely covered that part of the grammar. I messed up on those "state or condition of something" questions and tried to use "es". 2. Stupid mistake trying to use "hago" when "ayer" was in the sentence (DUH!) 3. Another stupid mistake of trying to use "son las" for "it's 1:00". Hello, singular! 4. problem with vocabulary, not knowing "duele la muela". Hmmm, come to think of it I think it's "doler" and it's reflexive. Doesn't it mean to be in pain or something? Oh well, I still have to check it. 5. I had another plural/singular problem with "Quiénes". I've just haven't come across it enough. 6. Missed the verb "gastar". I have to look it up. --- okay done. "waste, spend". Got it. 7. I've never properly covered indirect and direct object pronouns. I missed most of them. That will be tonight's task. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||||||||

I haven't gotten my course in Italian yet so I found Tom Sawyer with parallel text. I spend an hour copying down some sentences. They don't make much sense but I haven't been over them yet. I also listend to some of the beginners podcasts.

I keep stumbling onto cool grammar sites for Spanish. I was actually in the process of looking up something else -- I don't even remember what it was -- when I started doing sentences with this website.
I copied 80 sentences (20 apiece) from quizes El Verbo Gustar Los Verbos Modales Verbos Irregulares Pretérito Perfecto where I had to fill in the proper verbs. I did miserably on the 20 sentences with irregular verbs, but did really well on modal verbs and "gustar". "pretérito perfecto" was half-half. I'm just learning that one. I also answered correctly all questions to the "interpreting text" section. I'm going to take a break now, but I'm hoping to tackle gerunds and prepositions later. After I've completed that I'll go over the whole thing again and then I'll be ready to take yet another quiz! I'm really trying to push myself past beginner "inicial". Here in Germany past tense is taught after the beginner level -- I'm not sure what year that is. I'd like to completely fill in all gaps/ correct all problems I have with beginner level grammar and move onto using the past tenses. I really need to practice using my irregular verbs...more sentences are in order... I've been concentrating so hard on Spanish that I've completely lost my footing with Italian. I'm supposed to be doing Italian sentences but I've gotten bogged down in compound prepocizioni!
This one paragraph where I'm supposed to fill in the blanks has me stumped. Oggi Pietro non va a scuola, perché deve andare al lavoro con suo padre. La mattina lui cerca lo spazzolino. Lui cerca prima (in) nella doccia in bagno e dopo lui cerca anche (in) nel suo letto. Dopo va ? cucina e pensa ? colazione e alle paste. sul tavolo vede due cornetti e una tazza. Nella tazza c´è il latte caldo. Poi prende il giornale e legge un articolo (su) sugli studenti e (su) sullo sport. Il giornale parla anche dei ragazzi che non vogliono andare a scuola. Adesso Pietro deve pensare alla sua ragazza e agli studenti a scuola. Allora dice al padre: "Non voglio lavorare ! Voglio andare ? professoresse e ? amici !" The concept is simple enough, but I have to go over the typical nouns/genders to see a pattern. "Professoresse" sounds plural but when I punched in the plural of the article "a" I got an error....? I did manage to copy some new sentences. I'll tally them later. EDIT: 283 sentences.
