It's been one week since I logged my efforts -- with good reason.
Our landlord has decided to sell the apartment that we're living in and it looks like the buyer won't be investor after all and will want to move in. The landlord offered to sell the place to us but we're not too crazy about it and have been wanting to move anyway. When we get a notice to vacate we'll have just three months (!), so we've already started looking. It's going to be hard finding a house for 5 people in this area but I've got my hopes up. I'm not sure how a pending move will affect my TAC. We'll see if I can keep up. I've dropped Italian this week and stayed with Spanish.
I wrote my penpal only once this past week and sent him some new sentences to correct. *whew* -- I have to take a deep breath and let things settle a bit and then I'll try to squeeze in 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there for study. at least that's do-able.
Today I've been organizing the stuff in the attic, trying to sort out things that can already be put into boxes. I don't think they'll find a buyer right away but I won't say it can't happen tomorrow either. Two couples were here this week to look at the place. It's really wierd watching a potential buyer walk through the apartment, wondering "are they stupid enough to actually buy this place?" Anyway this whole thing will definitely make my TAC interesting.
I've decided to go over lessons 4-5 of Italian and maybe read some Spanish short stories tonight.

*groan*...It's so hard coming back...
I haven't studied and I've been avoiding my log like the plague.
Last night right before bed I cracked open a book and I read Spanish grammar until I had to pry my eyes open to turn of the light. I actually like reading before I fall asleep. The images of the words are still in my head as I'm drifting off.
Italian was a summer fling and I'm not sure what place it has now after the "housing crisis".
I find myself wanting to go back to my Japanese -- I've actually invested years in that relationship; it would be a shame to let it suffer.
Spanish is still a major goal of mine for the year so -- steady on. My pen-pal lost interest after he figured out what was happening here at home. Despite my desperate efforts I wasn't giving him enough Spanish to correct and what I was giving him was probably garbage and he decided that it was best to leave me alone to study. I still have to find a better system for learning. Maybe I'll try to go back to basics and do present tense one day, then the 2 past tenses the next day, then future...
Assuming I can stick with it. All's quiet so far. I think it's safe to continue!

I'm happy to have found a wonderful Spanish/German dictionary at the library today. It's from Langenscheidt and I have the English/German one in my collection. I may have to get the Spanish one too, because I've forgotten how well-organized it is.
The words are organized under themes and then separated into two levels; the 1-2000 level, and then 2001-4000. I went over the first chapter "Körper/(Body)" and after zooming over the 1-2000 level with words like la cabeza, la boca, la barriga, I went on to the next level for words like el heuso, la cintura, el tobillo and la mejilla. I'm sure I'll be spending more time with the first 2000. Sometimes it's nice to see what lies ahead.

I made 114 sentences with the words from the Langenscheidt book that I mentioned. The words center around the following themes: El Cuerpo, El Aspecto, El Carácter, La Salud, La Vida/la Muerte.
I don't have any work at the moment so I'm hoping to get through this book in one week. I know how easily I can switch off to doing something else so I'll give it my best shot and stay on course (at least until I get called into work).
Here's the copy the Vorlage/exercise that I was just working on.

I've made it to 150 new sentences. I say "new" because it only includes sentences I've made with this book I've been using.
A copy of what I'll be working on today. Prepositions!
To note: My goals and working methods have changed since the beginning of this log but I'll keep plugging away until December 31. I'm not working up to "TAC" standards any more. I'm not logging in daily and my hours for studying have been greatly reduced. I don't even think I can do MAC -- "moderate annihilation challenge" right now! Italian has been dropped for the time being. No TAC points, there.
well let's see. My year-end goal was to be at a successful midway point to taking the DELE in May. My listening and reading comprehension are B1. Grammar leaves something to be desired. I'm working on that. If I could manage more listening practice I'd be speaking already.
