Finally, Heisig's Remembering Simplified Hanzi and Remembering Traditional Hanzi have been finished and are ready to be ordered. I just ordered my copy.

I still prefer "Learning Chinese Characters"... same method, better adaptation to Chinese.

I wouldn't say it's the same method, or necessarily a "better adaptation to Chinese." That would be a matter of personal preference. Plus, the 800 characters the book teaches is hardly enough for a good foundation. I've emailed the publisher asking if and when a second book will be released and got no reply. Considering that we know Heisig will be releasing Vol. 2 (for a total of 3000 characters), and the massive number of success stories out there with "Remembering the Kanji," I'd prefer to learn using Heisig's book.

I also think that the methods are for different purposes. For me, I am not starting to learn the actual language until I start college next year, so I'm going to work through Heisig's book while perfecting my pronunciation. With the Tuttle book, I would be forced to learn the pronunciations immediately, and early production=more, harder to correct mistakes.

Anyone notice that "Remember the Hanzi" isn't on amazon? What could be the hold up? Being a prime member(free shipping), I like to order my books from amazon.

Can anyone tell me if "Remember the Hanzi" references the characters taught in the HSK levels? This referencing of characters for the HSK levels is probably the only good thing about "Learning Chinese Characters" by Matthews.

It's up there now, but "temporarily out of stock." I would expect it to be available in a couple days.

I received an email a while back saying the book won't ship until after the 25th of next month.

Funny, I have it sitting right next to me.

I ordered it straight from University of Hawaii Press the day I made this post. It arrived in 3 days if I remember right.
