I've watched all 52 episodes of French in Action. I started when I knew almost no French, and now that I've been
learning for 3 months, I've started watching it again. It's great listening practice, and the 2nd time around, I've made huge improvements. I've read the text for the first 2 or 3 episodes, but that's the extent of my use of any other FIA materials (time constraints). That's my background. I've become quite interested in the story, and quite frankly, the controversy that is FIA. I'd like this to be a sort of a gossip thread about the program. So this is sort of a spoiler to anyone who wants the story or various other aspects to be a surprise. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Did you know that 3 Yale students filed a
sexual-harassment grievance over FIA? One of the funniest things about the show was Mireille never wearing a bra. Exactly, what kind of question is that horse$hit? Are French women really like that? Are you serious dude?

I just finished reading that article I think the issue is maybe more about how their class was conducted than the FIA series. I've watched 27 episodes of FIA so far and while I did notice the no bra thing I don't see what the big deal is. In France people are a lot less prudish than a lot of people here in the US. Nude beaches are common, mistresses are something much more prevalent, hell, even the President is married to a supermodel. Mr.Capretz is right when he says, "Nothing we show is going to shock anybody in France."
All I care about is that FIA is AMAZING when it comes to learning French. These lessons are what I have started with to learn French and I have to say that I wish there was something like them for all languages. Once I finish the 52 episodes I plan to rewatch them all as well. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I have read that actual levels of extramarital affairs in France are no more than most other countries...including the US.
