I managed to find this infamous video of Ziad Fazah trying to speak in several
languages. However, my Spanish is not quite fluent, alhtough I can understand what they
are talking about easily. I would like to know however all the Spanish dialogue, both
from Ziad and others. A translation of the other languages (Finnish, Greek, Mandarin,
Farsi, Russian) that are spoken in the video would also be much appreciated, I can
understand most of what they say, but not in great detail.

For those that are willing, could you give me the original language in the languages
script (and pinyin for Chinese, please) and also the English translation.

Basically what I am looking for is a complete translation. Both for the dialogues in
the original languages and an English translation.

Here is the video

I know that this is a huge task, however, it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Can't really help with the Spanish, but this is what I heard for the Mandarin part. Please excuse any transcription errors, I'm not very used to pinyin. In the translations I have tried to somewhat respect the original word ordering.

Mr. Xu:
--先生, 您懂得58種語言, 真可謂是語言大師. 這個因為你所說的, 中國普通話是較困難. 那麼, 我向你提個問題:

--xian1sheng1, nin3 dong3 de2 wu3shi2ba1 zhong3 yu3yan2, zhen1 ke3 wei4 shi4 yu3yan2 da4shi1. zhe4ge4 yin1wei4 ni2 suo3 shuo1 de5, zhong1guo2 pu3tong1hua4 shi4 jiao4 kun4nan2. na4me5, wo3 xiang4 ni3 ti2 ge5 wen4ti2:

Mr. <something>, you understand 58 kinds of languages, (you) truly are a great language master. This is as you have already stated, Chinese Mandarin is rather more difficult. In that case, I pose a question to you:

在地球上-- 在月球上能够看到, 唯一的地球上的人造工程是什麼?

zai4 di4qiu2 shang4-- zai4 yue4qiu2 shang4 neng2gou4 kan4dao4, wei2yi1 de5 di4qiu2 shang4 de5 ren2zao4gong1cheng2 shi4 shen2me5?

On the earth-- on the moon, what is the only man-made object on the earth that can be seen?

Mr. Fazah:
請你<??>

qing2 ni3 <unintelligible>

Can you please <unintelligible>

Mr. Xu:
在地-- 在月球上能够看到, 地球上的唯一的人造工程是什麼?

zai4 di4-- zai4 yue4qiu2 shang4 neng2gou4 kan4dao4, di4qiu2 shang4 de5 wei2yi1 de5 ren2zao4gong1cheng2 shi4 shen2me5?

On the ear-- on the moon, what is on the earth the only man-made object that can be seen?

edit:

Just wanted to add that the great wall of china absolutely cannot be seen from the moon with the naked eye; for some inexplicable reason this common sense defying myth is quite pervasive.

I have listened to the Greek part just after the Chinese one. Jrici Stefarici (JS) first said something like [ζηρτα δέ], which I simply don't understand (ζητώ = I seek?)

As far as I could hear the discussion then continued as follows (but Greek is not one of my best languages, so... ):

SP: ".. Θα ta (?) [ήθελα?] να σας ρωτήσω:" (I would like to ask you:) "Πόσες ημέρες θα μείνετε εδώ στε* Χιλή?"
(How many days are you going to stay here in Chile"? NB: 'στε' is probably 'στη' with a very open vowel)

Ziad Fazah (ZF): "Παρακαλó, [ηπόνητε]" ('Please' + a word that I can't identify).
JS: "Παρακαλó?" ('Please?')
ZF: "Παρακαλó, [ηπόνητε] .. one more time"
JS: "Παρακαλó ... Δεν ακουσά?" (please ... (he) didn't hear? )
ZF: "[ηπόνητε!]"
JS: "... υπομονή? " ("patience?")
ZF: "si" (yes in Spanish)
JS: "paciencia?" (patience in Spanish)
ZF: "no - pasa (?) me una vez más, por favor" (=> (in Spanish) 'no... one time more, please" )

JS: "una vez más ...[..να] σας ρωτήσω: "Πόσες ημέρες θα μενετε εδώ στη Χιλή?"
=> (in Spanish:) "once more" (in Greek) [...] I ask you: How many days are you going to stay here in Chile"?)

ZF: (no answer, maybe because somebody is singing a triumphant fanfare in the background)

At the begining the woman says 'καλωσήρθατε'-'welcome'.
Then she says :'Hθελα να σας ρώτησω πόσες μέρες θα μείνετε εδώ στη(ν) Χιλή;-How many days are you going to be staying in Chile?

Ziad responds by saying ´παρακαλώ' and something like 'ιπόνιτε'.No such word exists in modern Greek.Maybe he meant to say 'τί είπατε;'-'what did you say?'

In the end the greek woman herself makes a mistake by saying 'Hθελα να σας ρώτησω πόσες μέρες θα μένετε εδώ στη Χιλή;' instead of 'Hθελα να σας ρώτησω πόσες μέρες θα μείνετε εδώ στη Χιλή;She obviously has been living in Chile many years.Even her pronounciation has started to change a little bit.

Thanks to 1qaz2wsx for giving an authoritative assessment, - now that I have been presented with the solution to the two unclear passages I can also hear that Jrici Stefarici says "καλωσήρθατε" ("welcome" - which is really quite logical here).

I also noticed a few unexpected pronunciations in JS's passages, including a tendency to open the /i/ sound, which may explain both *στε and *μενετε).

The conclusion of this part of the experiment is that Z.F. says one single, very common Greek word correctly, and the only other Greek word he ventures to say doesn't exist. He doesn't understand the question, and when JS in vain tries to guess what he wanted to say he accepts the word "υπομονή" until he has heard the Spanish translation, then he backs out.

I still don't understand why ZF accepted to participate in this test. He should have known the outcome.

---

PS: Today I have also tried to listen to the Spanish section at the very beginning, but there are several passages that I can't quite make sense of, - which of course can be my error and not ZF's. I hear something like this:

ZF: Bien [engadar ???] nací con un tálento divino, al qual me *posibilitá aprender los idiomas del mundo en tres años. [...] d eses (??) años, y después empezé de aprender todos los idiomas.
[QUESTION: qué idioma[s] má[s] Le costó aprender?]
ZF: Bien, todos me interesan, peró el mas dificil es el Chino Mandarin, porque es escrito con ideogrammas, grammatica muy simple, y lo se [ven ???] también los occidentales que me interesan como el francez, l'aleman, por causa de las cienc(I)as* (??) politicas, la literatura y otras cosas culturales.

etc.

* or does he really say "las asientas politicas" ?

Is there somebody out there who could tell me what he really says?

Russian:

- Какой сегодня день недели? (Which day of the week do we have today?)
- Какой? (Which?)
- Какой сегодня день недели?
- (No answer)

That's it.
