Whenever I hear something like this, the 'French' in me (I'm not French though) gets a little of that 'francophonie' pride hurt. And then I feel bad for caring so much.

I spent three days in an 'eco resort' at the East coast where the owners came from outside Madagascar (I have forgotten which country) and there I spoke English most of the time. Apart from that I didn't hear a word of English from I came until I left during my visit in 2005. So Madagascar has not left la Francophonie yet.

I think this is to bad actually. This is just onother example of globalization(in a bad way). but i can understand why madagascar would want to do such a thing, the motives are quite obvious as stated in the article but at what cost will it come to madagascars culture?
