It looks like yet another major eikaiwa (English conversation) school in Japan has bit the dust, with strong rumours about GEOS struggling financially over the last few months coming to a head today. The GEOS school here in Melbourne today held a meeting about the future of the school, which confirmed that the company had applied for voluntary administration in Australia and that classes would cease immediately. Wonder what this will mean for GEOS in Japan? Will it mean yet another stream of foreigners out of work? Does the eikaiwa industry in Japan need looking at in terms of regulation?
Does anyone here have experience working at GEOS? This is huge, as GEOS operates a number of schools in Australia, all of which will be closing.
