I've also just checked, and there don't appear to be any direct flights between Iceland and France. This seems a pretty good indicator of low demand....

true, but that's exactly my point when it comes to something like icelandic. there's only two icelandic courses available now, teach yourself and colloquial, you generate demand when you increase the option, and while assimil may not be too well know outside France, I can imagine it's quality is quite apparent even to the laymen (considering a logic of buying to get more, teach yourself courses are lax at best)
then again, it doesn't matter, even if they're making one now, we'll be getting it in 3 years only :(

There's also Hippocrene's Beginning Icelandic as well as the older (but very comprehensive) Einarsson
Grammar/Texts in print in case anyone was wondering. There's also copies of the Linguaphone course floating
around, which I cannot recommend highly enough. It has fifty fairly long lessons with audio and in terms of
amount is definitely comparable with an Assimil course.
Ignoring that for now, I don't think the idea that you can generate demand just by producing more options makes
much sense. When we talk about demand in the context of something we might want to sell, of course the demand is
estimated under the assumption that we have produced the product. If anything, more options (say a third party,
Bassimil, produces their own course) would dilute the demand and make it even less attractive an option.
Assimil is not a charity, and it has no obligation to create equal demand for all languages, especially at a
cost—which is unfortunate because I would be the first in line.

Of course not, I'm talking in highly general terms :D I also do not all the intricacies of demand and supply, as many others here as it seems, by being perplexed by the lack of Icelandic course.
But you're right, my logic is somewhat skewed probably, but I do believe, especially being Assimil they could outsell both TY and Colloquial. But I'm hypothesising now.

I think some of the recent posts are off topic.
Now back on topic. I personally will buy the Malagasy program, as I can compare it with the other Austronesian languages I will study in the future. (Cebuano/ Bisaya, Tagalog, Indonesian, Hawaiian?)
One other thing, there is another thread petitioning the ASSIMIL Icelandic to be made. It would be best IMO to post about that subject there. I am also in support for ASSIMIL to make the program. Here

I own it but I didn't get down to study, Malgache being a middle-priority language. Audio is a most, as the orthography is far from perfect. Being a newer method, I hope they have avoided the idiosyncracies of the older Indonésien. Still, I can't say much. If you want, I can have a look again or even let you do so.
