After my usual google and wikipedia seaches turned up no unbiast discriptions and reviews of Spanish immersion schools in cuba, I thought I would return here for some opinions. For many years, I have wanted to go to cuba.
I am looking to plan a 4 week intensive course for about one year from now, and stay with a family. I am seeking advice on the following: * Any recomendations for a particular language school in Cuba? * or, what city(ies) in Cuba would be the best place to learn? (would provide the best envirenment for learning) * Is cuba a "good" place to learn Spanish? That is: is the varian of Spanish there good for a beginer. Some people do not like the Spanish spoken in Cuba since word endings are missed out (amongst other things). As regards your other questions, I'm afraid that I don't know.

I think it's a good place to learn Spanish, since people there are very friendly and talkative, as well as being quite educated on average, but as Patuco said, be aware that Cuban accent may sound funny when talking to other Spanish speakers.

In my experience picking up a bit of a Cuban accent does you no harm at all!
Some of my friends took Spanish courses in Havana last year and their accents are far more neutral than mine (which comes from Andalucia)! Plus, the people are sooo friendly - they made way more friends than I did. I also highly recommend staying with a host family. im from cuba, and i could tell you, the people are very friendly. they will gladly teach you our Spanish. the accent thing is true but all countries have their own little accent.
i would suggest havana! plus if you learn "cuban Spanish" you will be able to speak fast! atleast thats what others say about our Spanish hope this helps, 1 person has voted this message useful |
