Agnieszka Holland is one of the best known Polish directors and In Darkness is her third movie to receive the Oscar nomination.

"In Darkness is a pitiless glimpse into the inferno, into hell not only on earth but below it. Based on a true story, it takes you into the sewers of the Polish city of Lvov during World War II, a place where a group of Jews lived for more than a year under circumstances that are almost unimaginable" (Los Angeles Times).

Have you seen it? And if you did, what do you think about it? Some time after I'd watched it, I started to wonder what do foreigners think about this story and about the way Holland tells it.

And since it's a forum contributed to the languages, I'd like to point out one very interesting aspect of the movie: in In Darkness protagonists (mostly Jews and citizens of Lvov which is situated on the East Boarderlands) dont't speak Polish but Lvov dialect; you can also hear German, Yiddish, and Ukrainian.
