Having just bought these books about three months ago, I now feel a bit glum that new versions have come out that include audio. Mind you, at those prices I am tempted to buy the new versions just to get the audio recordings, and give the "old" ones away (even though they now seem to be Collector's Items commanding a high price.

How is the material laid out? Is it a set of categorized lists according to different themes just read aloud with a
pause?

Yes. That's pretty much it.

DaraghM Don't they do an Italian version? It's a shame if they don't.

I haven't seen one. Hopefully they'll do more for other languages.

Is the audio just of the words, or do they say the sample sentence as well?

It has the sample sentences as well, but not those in the highlight boxes.

I know how you feel. I picked both up earlier this year and they then released these in May.

Could you please make a scan of some of the pages from the book, to see how it's laid out - amazon doesn't provide the Look Inside function for these books.

There you go

I pre-oredered the French book with CD, but was disappointed that the audio was French only. I guess I was hoping it would function something like Vocabulearn, and I could use it while commuting.

I'm sure it would work well using the method you've outlined, Daragh, but I have plenty of "sit down and read" material. I need more material for when I'm out and about, and unfortunately, listening to monolingual word lists doesn't work for me.

Still, it is probably the most comprehensive vocabulary book available in English, and even with such an immense amount of audio, it costs about the same as its competitors. As cheap as it is, I don't regret buying it. I just wont be using it as much as I had hoped.

I'm tempted to make a recording of the English as I have some down time coming up but my daft northern accent would upset some folk and I am not going to put an accent on for 10 hours!

Has anyone purchased the Spanish version yet? I wonder what accent they use in the audio. I've tried
looking for audio samples, but it seems like a lost cause.

I found this at the bookstore today. I didn't buy it, but I'm wondering if anyone who has can provide a further update. Has it been something you could stick with? How has it been useful?
