There is one language that seems to dwarf all others in numbers of large forums, at least of the languages I have
studied. Can you guess which one it is, and suggest why it's learners are so active in forums?

Japanese? It seems like the forums I've seen are dominated by young-ish western males who are enthusiastic consumers of pop culture, especially manga.
I've noticed with Korean, some of the most active forums involve young women from various Asian countries who are enthusiastic consumers of Korean pop culture, esp dramas and Kpop.
Maybe it's the combination of language learning plus pop culture that makes for the liveliest forums.

Yes, Japanese. I haven't spent any time on Spanish forums; maybe they are even bigger. But it just amazes me how
active Japanese learning forums are. And I have to say there is more technology discussed there than anywhere else.
