Drangon27, the context is a technical guidebook which teaches new programmers to use an OpenSSL command to generate a public and private key, which are to be used for encryption.

These are two other equally acceptable, and possibly more natural (in this case more formal and more typical for instruction manuals) ways to say the same thing.
This is true. Keep in mind that English is a Germanic language, so it's very easy to take a noun or a sequence of nouns and make it an adjective. In Russian you can't do it that way, maybe sometimes, but not as often. And as Dragon27 points out, in this case it becomes a little ambiguous and awkward if you just try to use "command line" as an adjectival phrase. So just stick with one of the three "prepositional phrase" ways Dragon and I pointed out above. 2 persons have voted this message useful |
