I've been living in China for the past two years and for this past year I've been coaching an MMA-oriented
grappling class. I teach every Saturday whenever I don't have any work-related engagements. Most of my
students are locals, and I'd like to make the most of my class as an opportunity for me to improve my
Chinese.
What I do find as hindrance is that I can't find any source for finding out Chinese translations for the
techniques and technical terms we use in MMA. I could watch Chinese MMA shows and listen to the
commentators on Youku, but this would be just time consuming and I suppose it's going to take countless
hours of watching to learn the technical terms in my target language.
So far I've picked up a few translations by asking friends and got translations for a few terms such as 抱双腿
摔 (double-leg takedown), 十字固 (armbar), 三角锁 (triangle choke), 裸绞 (rear naked choke), 过腿 (pass
guard), 锁手 (armlock), 锁脚 (leg lock), 骑乘 (mount), 侧位压制 (side mount), 巴西柔术 (BJJ), 综合格斗
(MMA). If you have any corrections or alternative translations please feel free to post them.
Can anyone else add to the list?
What, for example, would be Mandarin for words like tap out, kimura, shoulder throw, heel hook, under hook,
scarf hold, guard, half guard, and other techniques and technical terms?

How about sports-related vocabulary like warm-up (热身?), offense, defense, counter-attack, pinning,
calisthenics and other technical sports terms?

usually i suggest going to wikipedia article in English (say, MMA or "rear naked choke") and scrolling down to Zhongwen in language options. MMA article in Chinese is quite small, but maybe a few words here and there can be found. Good luck!

OK, since I actually enjoy Googling, here you go, some links that list these kind of things:
