This came into my inbox today via Benny Lewis- Book Box. These are HD illustrated, free, videos of stories in many languages with integrated, synced subtitles(words highlight as read) intended for children. More common languages include English (US), English (UK), Spanish, Russian, Dutch, French Italian, Mandarin, German, Portuguese (BR), Greek. Other languages: Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Bengali, Arabic (only 2 stories), Swahili, Tamil.

These are high quality and with the English also available, comprehensible. They are intended for "children to read along" and to promote literacy. Of course, they'll also work well for language learners. Some languages have up to 18 videos about 5-6 minutes in length. Many thanks to Benny! This could be very useful and there looks to be something for everyone. The you tube videos are free but the versions with English and TL are not and are at the BookBox inc. website. The Flash Video Downloader addon from Frirefox will enable private use of the videos with just the TL subs.

They might also be available as Memrise courses (at least the Russian one is).
