I'm looking for good Russian novels that I could comfortably read at my level (my main goal for now is extensive reading). I'm open to any kind of genre, as long as the story is really engaging, so I'm always motivated to keep reading and find out what happens next. Adult or young adult books are okay, but I don't much like children's books.

To give you an idea of my current reading level: I'm reading the Russian translation of "The Hunger Games" right now, never having read it in English or any other language before, and I can follow the story just fine without a dictionary. For the chapters I'm reading intensively (i.e. looking up every unknown word), I look up about seven words a page on average.

Any page-turners (plot and/or character-driven) that you'd recommend?

Have you read anything by Dan Brown? I know that the four books about Robert Langdon have been translated into Russian.
Ангелы и демоны (Angels & Demons)
Код да Винчи (The Da Vinci Code)
Утраченный символ (The Lost Symbol)
Инферно (Inferno)

In English, the Dan Brown books are rather lurid and poorly-written, which is a shame,
since the underlying ideas would make for a fun read. I have some of the Russian
translations, and while still lurid, of course, the Russian translator's version is
actually better written. So perhaps worth a try, and of course you can find audio
versions also. Not good for L-R, though, since in fixing Dan Brown's bad writing, the
translations are not very literal.

Have you heard of Boris Akunin? He's become quite famous in Russia for a popular series of historical detective novels. I have the first one in English, it's a fun read. However, I have no idea how challenging it would be to read in Russian compared to The Hunger Games. For some reason, many of his books can be read for free on akunin.ru. Check it out with the first chapter of Азазель.

I'm reading Divergent in Russian, I find it easier to follow than even my previous attempt (Agatha Christie). I don't understand the Russian yet and rely mostly on the translation, but this time I'm retaining more from the Russian.

I also plan to read Douglas Adams' books, but they may be slightly harder.
